February 6:
Election Day!
NSWAS people cast their votes in the national election.  For the first time, there was a ballot box in the village itself.  Yet all that preceded the current election left people wondering whether to act with pragmatism, and cast their vote, or simply not to vote at all.  A meeting held on the eve of the elections, appeared to show that the majority of the Jewish residents would opt to vote for Barak, whereas the majority of the Arab residents would, like Arabs throughout Israel, cast a blank ballot, in protest against the policies and actions of the incumbent administration.
