CEVI Award 2002

June 2002 - NSWAS receives the 2002 Award for Humanity of CEVI (Christian Associations of Young Women and Men), Switzerland.

"The Award for humanity is given this year to the peace village of Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam in Isael. The cooperative village, in which Israeli and Palestinian citizens of Israel live together, was established in 1972. It lies equidistant from Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Ramallah. "Live in peace" reads the slogan of the village! This means: To sit down with the conflicts and not avoid them. Peace work is converted into practical work: a kindergarten and a school, School for Peace, Place of Silence, guesthouse and visitor programs.

The prize of SFr. 10,000. - is endowed by CEVI Switzerland (Christian associations of young women and men) and made possible also by GRA (Foundation for Opposition to Racism and Antisemitism)."
