Youth Spreading the Word in the UKMonday 26 August 2013, by ,
Every two years the Oasis of Peace UK invites two young individuals to present our community and its educational work in a speaking tour composed of talks and meetings. This year two candidates, Nadine Nashef and Tali Sonnenschein, were chosen for the 10-day tour which took place between April 20 - 30. As second generation members of Wahat al-Salam – Neve Shalom, they were well able to speak about their experience of attending the binational bilingual primary school and growing up in a cooperative Jewish-Arab village. They cogently explained the challenges related to the conflict that they face in their day-to-day lives, and the benefits they feel from living in this unique village.
The two women conducted illuminating discussions with church groups, synagogues, Rotary Clubs, lawyers groups, the UK Task Force, and others at many venues around London. They were well received at every location. Thanks to Oasis of Peace UK and to all those who hosted Tali and Nadi or assisted in this exceptionally well-organized tour.
