A Night of Protest in Word and Rap

June 4, 2025

On Thursday, May 29, about 150 people gathered in the amphitheater next to the WASNS hotel for an event organized by the Pluralistic Spiritual Community (PSCC) and ALBI, an organization that “uses cultural vehicles to establish paradigm-shifting narratives by and about Palestinians and Jews.”

The event was an evening of protest and rage. Participants who arrived early had time to wander among the booths set up by various organizations, including Zochrot, Socialist Struggle, Doctors for Human Rights, and Yesh G’vul. Along with explanatory material, the booths sold books and merchandise.

Hezzi Schuster, PSCC director, and Shahd Bishara from Standing Together opened the main event. The performers were Yossi Zabari, a poet and sharp-tongued spoken word artist, and the well-known Palestinian rapper/social activist Tamer Nafar.

Mai Shahada organized the event.
