School for Peace: Back Home at Last
At long last, the School for Peace has moved back into its new/old home. The School for Peace building, which had destroyed in an arson attack in September, 2020, has had a new facelift and a completely modern interior makeover, including equipment and electronics. Thanks to architect Shireen Manassa, the new building is welcoming and fits perfectly into the village of Wahat al- Salam/Neve Shalom. A mango tree in the entryway and a grassy area near the offices invite people to sit and share, while the olive tree that was previously in front of the building has been relocated to a place of honor just outside the back glass wall.
The staff have completed their move from their temporary quarters in the Library building to their offices in the SFP.
On September 26, Dr. Roi Silberberg, Director of the School for Peace wrote:
“We had our first activities in the new building of the School for Peace today. It truly felt like home once we started. The lawyers graduates’ group and environmentalists’ course had great meetings, and we are sure to have meaningful activities in this building that will address the awful context that we are in today.”
The School for Peace staff has a full line-up of courses and projects planned for the coming year, including professional dialogue courses, university courses and alumni courses and projects.
The grand opening of the School for Peace Building will take place in the beginning of November, during the Annual General Meeting.
