The beginning of the school year is a reason to celebrate, and so it was this year.
The primary school staff, together with the Parent’s Community, held a party for the kids and families. The favorite stations were the popcorn and slushie machines, and the face painting. Kids could also exchange school shirts and there was an arts and crafts station, as well.
Then, once the kids were painted and had their fill of popcorn, they sat down for a circus act, complete with acrobatics, fire juggling, a unicyclist and more.
Ela, mother of children in first and second grade:
“It was so moving and it’s important to return to this sane system in these times. It’s a framework that enables us to imaging and hope for a better future for the two peoples who live here.”
Abed, father of children in first and second grade:
“The kids are so happy to see their friends again, and to speak both Hebrew and Arabic with their classmates – to be in that amazing space and to still be in a shared peer group.”
