German Friends Winter Newsletter

December 9, 2024

Almuth Kunze, our German Friends’ of Neve Shalom Wahat al-Salam new board member, writes about the meeting of the international circle of friends in November, which could not take place in the village this year, but instead in London thanks to the efforts of our British friends:

“I am deeply impressed that the village continues to create and maintain a space of peace in the midst of the war and despite the great pressure from the government. This includes how the primary school immediately involved the children and parents in guided dialogues and discussions that continue to take place. No child has been taken out of school. This includes the fact that the Peace School continues to run its courses – which are vehemently demanded – and that it continues to support its graduates, the primary school and the village. And this includes the fact that the Spiritual Center has become a safe haven and meeting place for various groups that can no longer meet elsewhere in the country.

It was good to meet our friends from Wahat al-Salam/Neve Shalom in person and to hear all this and much more from them personally.”
